Meter Readings 2.9.2 now available

October 11, 2011

Improved the way you add new readings, especially for meters with multiple sets of readings (e.g. day and night). You can now (and in fact have to) enter all the readings for your meter before saving.

For users in the UK, the price comparison feature is now accessible via a single tap, and the help links have been moved to the Settings screen. I encourage people to use this feature from time to time to make sure they are not paying over the odds. If you do switch suppliers, please use the links provided as it helps me to keep updating the app – thank you!

Changed the reminders feature not to remind you if you use the app on the day of the reminder (e.g. if you set the reminder for midday and you use it at 9am).

Minor fixes for iOS 5, and other UI improvements.

We live in California, have PG&E for a electric provider, and have recently received a smart meter.
Is there a way to make this information available through the app, as maybe a data push to your server from PG&E? Maybe with a daily push timeframe?
Anyway, just a thought. Completely enjoy the app, enter data frequently and have great results.
    Thank you

Hi Paul, not really. There is no server involved at my end – the data is only on your device. Even if you take backups, it’s up to you where you put them.

I’m not sure how your smart meter connects to your supplier – do you know? It might be possible (with a lot if work!) for your iPhone to intercept this, but the app would have to be running (so not ideal). Alternatively the app could access your online account to download your readings. Trouble is there are 1000s of suppliers worldwide, and each would be different. 😦
