TestFlight and Beta Testing

October 15, 2015

testflight57 In iOS 8 Apple introduced a way for developers to give beta releases of their apps to customers to test. I have not used this up until now, however iOS 9 introduced a nasty bug to do with the HUF currency and this was causing issues for a small number of users.

I have now built a beta release of Account Tracker (v4.6) and have managed to release it directly to these users. Testing is underway.

This is quite an exciting development, as releasing app updates is always very stressful. If I get something wrong (which I have been known to do!), 1000s of users would be impacted within hours, and it can take Apple a week or two to approve a fix!

Once I am happy that version 4.6 is working fine, especially since it has been updated to use Apple’s iOS 9 SDK (*), I will release it to everyone.

* no this doesn’t mean I now support Force Touch!

As someone who has purchased Account Tracker more than once because I believe in supporting good developers I’ll bite ~ Force Touch…… and why not?

      1) I don’t have a 6S and 2) I am still finding and fixing bugs in iOS 9 to even begin thinking about new developments
